Proč zvolit raději manažovatelný switch pro PROFINET, EtherNet/IP a Modbus TCP/IP?
Průmyslový Ethernet (tj. PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP) bude fungovat, i pokud použijete nemanažovatelný switch. Nicméně v průmyslovém Ethernetu je kladen důraz na rychlou a robustní komunikaci a použitím nemanažovatelného switche robustnost sítě klesá. Sítě průmyslového Ethernetu komunikují v rámci milisekund a na takovou rychlost nemanažovatelné switche nejsou stavěné.
Další obrovskou přidanou hodnotou manažovatelných switchů je podpora protokolů SNMP a LLDP. Díky protokolu SNMP máme možnost provádět diagnostiku a vyčítat tak ze switche důležité informace.
Protokol LLDP zase slouží pro zjišťování síťového okolí, takže nám umožní vyčítat síťovou topologii a vidíme přesně, která zařízení jsou do určitých portů zapojena. Znalost přesné topologie sítě je klíčová pro rychlé nalezení chyby, což dokáže ušetřit náklady a prostoje v případě výpadku komunikace.
