Coloured connectors enable you to distinguish one network or segment from another. They also allow you to tell which connector is original and which new. When installing the original connector, you will use a white connector. When later replacing it during scheduled downtime, you will use a green connector. Later on, you will replace the green one with a red one and so on.
Screw terminals provide long-term conductivity. As they eliminate the possibility of failure, they prevent downtime. In FOXON, we prefer screw terminals to the FastConnect piercing system because you have the connection under full control and can use fixed as well as flexible PROFIBUS cables.
If the connector is located at either of the two ends of the segment (i.e. the first or the last station), make sure its terminating resistor is on (in the "ON" position) and the PROFIBUS cable is connected to the incoming slot. If it is located elsewhere (i.e. the connector interconnects incoming (A1, B1) and outgoing (A2, B2) bus lines), the terminating resistor has to be switched off (in the "OFF" position).
